Topic 9 Study Guide

Role of Women: Replaced mens' jobs. Worked at factories. Supported Family. Nurses.

Atomic Bomb Cause & Effect: The bomb was dropped to prevent a loss of thousands of American lives if we were to invade Japan. The effects would be the death of over 160,000 people, and long term radiation effects.

Purpose of Propaganda: Encourage men to join the war, to fight for their nation. Encouraged the sales of bonds to financially support the war.

Effects of the war at Europe: Territories changed, a single currency for all of Europe. The UN was formed for security reason.

Japanese Internment: Put Japanese-Americans in prison camps. Japs were thought to be spies and could help the Jap empire defeat us.

Rationing: Would eat less in order to have more food for the soldiers. Encouraged civilians to use less of Rubber, Oil, and Metal because these supplies were very important to make Military Equipment.

Results of WWII: Brought the economy back to life. Suburbs. Baby boom. Technology.

Effects of Pearl Harbor attack: Allowed us to enter WWII. Jap-Americans were now mistreated.

US Foreign Policy before, during, and after the war: Before, the same 2% rate of diversity, during, took in too many Jews and then turned away the rest, after accepting more Europeans
